Values > Feelings

Values > Feelings

You know when you just really don’t want to get out of bed, workout, eat a kale salad, wake up early, or when you convince yourself that tomorrow is the day you’ll get your sht together… but you just need one more reset or indulgent day? Fcking FEELINGS, I get it. I would love to lay in my queen-sized TempurPedic bed alllll morning being served warm buttery croissants and vanilla lattes on a rose gold platter *hint hint to my future lover*. But like, that routine isn’t ideal in the long-run.

Ugh, there were no “eating a croissant in bed gifs” - BRB.

For the sake of my eternal love for warm buttery croissants, I’m going to continue using them as the example here. If I had a warm, flaky, buttery croissant every single day, I would feel like sht and basically turn into a puff pastry. I don’t want to look like a puff pastry and quite honestly, I don’t want to feel like one either… bleh.

I value feeling good.

I value feeling healthy on all levels— physically, mentally, spiritually and emotionally healthy. I love feeling and looking good in and out of clothing. So what I value typically outweighs my feelings of craving a croissant and indulging in it (sometimes, lol). I know that I feel and function best when I do or do not do certain things.

Another example: I fcking love my bed. I love how cozy my room looks in the morning courtesy of the sun shining through my sheer white curtains. I could stay in there ALL morning long. But guess what? I know staying in bed all morning will WASTE my morning. I also know that I feel better when I make my bed, stretch, workout, read and have a clean room. These are all things I do in the mornings. If I slack, I begin to feel slow and unaccomplished. The more I neglect my values and slack, the slower and less ambitious I feel. Your values have to be stronger than your feelings.

YOU have to be stronger than your feelings. First, you have to establish your values. You then have to understand how you feel if you neglect them… Practicing self-awareness in this area is so crucial. Self-awareness is observing/understanding that if you do or don’t do “X” it’s going to make you feel like “X”.

Listen to your values, not your feelings.

Strong Values

So, what are your values and how does it make you feel when you begin to neglect them?

With love,
